the pulley wears so it moves a few mm on the shaft
you start with bolt is tight
motor turns drum anti clock looking from rear. pulley moves 2 mm or so and so does the bolt. the bolt is now 2mm looser. the drum stops and turns clockwise, the pulley moves 2 mm but the bolt slips ans only moves back 1mm. so now the bolt is 1mm looser than when you started. Repeat the process and the pulley gets looser
replace the pulley so it does not move and all is well again

hi Dave there are 3 numbers on the pulley. 41017885, 41024466, 41024467.
you were correct in identifying the correct pulley number. i have taken it off and yes there is excessive wear on the pulley splines nearest to the drum it self. can you guys supply the part?

    thanks tony
