ParticipantHI,
I have a built in candy f/f. SOrry dont know the model number and cant see it anywhere??
The red warning light is on constantly and both the fridge and freezer are at room temp. The sides of the unit and the area between the fridge and the freezer (where the lights are) is very warm to touch.
I take it the compressor has given up the ghost and I’m in need of a new unit??
It was making a bit of a funny car-like spluttering noise lately (like a car stalling)
Any advice much appreciated,

Hi Peter,
Yes, it sounds like a compressor failure.
How old is the fridge freezer out of curiosity as it’s not uncommon for muppet kitchen fitters not to allow adequate ventilation, which is almost certainly going to kill it early. 🙁

Nice and toasty, no cooling…
Almost certainly inadequate ventilation, a bit of hot (ter) weather and the pot burns out. I’d almost guarantee the pot was fried. 🙁
When you do replace it, as at four years old I’m sure you’re not thrilled at the prospect of spending the best part of £200 fixing it, make sure you have an air channel at the back so that the compressor can be cooled by convection. Normally full height units should have a “chimney” that runs the full height at the back for fridge freezers and cooking appliances, when it’s blocked by back panels it kills ovens and fridge freezers. The backing panels should be removed on these kitchen units when appliances are installed in them.
A nice little grill on the plinth below the unit as well to allow cool air to be drawn in is perfect and saves this sort of thing from happening. Well, for that reason anyway.

Thanks,
Soulnds exactly what happened.
Yep out looking for a replacement today.
Looks like there is very litle ventilation. Unit has ‘rubber’ seals around it but does have a ventillation tray underneath it. There isa wooden shelf on top of it which I think goes the whole way back to the wall!!! AAAAGGGHHH!
Left it off all night then turned back on this morning-warning light still on and still same behaviour
