Candy GCC591NB Will Not Turn

Hi,

Our Candy GCC591NB tumble dryer is nearly 3 years old and out of warranty.

It has developed an issue where the drum will not start to turn on its own.

The motor sounds as though its trying to turn but it does not seem to start it moving.

If you take out the washing and give the drum a quarter turn manually with your hand it then after closing the door and putting washing back in seems to run fine for that cycle fine.

But once it has been stopped and left for a while it has the same issue again.

Someone mentioned it could be a capacitor that is needed but other than that I have no idea.

Any advice would be great.

capacitor is likely
if the capacitor goes the motor has less power. it will go with a push and may work with light loads

its a bit odd that you say it works for a full cycle after you have turned the drum

its a bit of a pig to get at and change on this model

Do you know roughly where it is and is it a total strip down.

right hand side at the rear

I access through the front by taking the whole front and remove the front bearing system. you can then with one and and a bit of struggling remove the wires from the cap, unbolt it and remove and replace it. The hardest part is getting the nut on and off without dropping it while using one had
