Hi, I have the above washer dryer that is a couple of years old, , it has an issue that when the unit is set to “off” on the control dial, after a few hour/days the unit will start to beep every 10 seconds, the display will be blank as it should be, if I try and select a programme it continues to bleep and the spin speed indicators just scroll through in succession , it will do this in any setting other then “off”, the machine cannot be used ,all I need to do is switch off at the mains and back on again and it will work fine , it never fails during a cycle, I have spoken to Candy technical who just say I need an engineer !! I’m sure the scrolling lights must be an indication of something , fortunately the socket is easily accessible so its not an issue to reset, at this point as the wash/dry cycles work correctly I would not want to spend out to repair it, its just an irritation . anyone come across this before ?
    Many thanks in advance, Oliver.

2 possible causes either the wash heating element or the nfc pcb which is the electronics.

Hi , thanks for your reply, I would have thought if it was either of these components then it wouldn’t work properly during a cycle, the fault only happens when its in the Off position. the machine warms up so the element is OK, I never use or select the “smart touch” function so doubt its the NFC.

no but it could still be the board faulty

    solution
turn it off at the socket when you finish with it

not a lot of people realise that when the knob is in the off postion its really only in standby, the boards are still live

Hi, thanks again for your reply , yes I’m fully aware that the “off ” position on the control dial is just basically a software point and not a mechanical isolation , and yes switching off at the socket between uses would overcome the issue , but not cure it.
I was hoping that the regular beeping and the sequencing of the LEDs would be a fault indication ( i did give you a bit of false information in the first post, its the temperature LEDs, not the speed ones) as its does the same thing every time it goes into fault , indicating the same fault condition , I don’t believe I’m the only person ever to experience this fault. One thought I did have is the washing machine is in a garage, and it may have no connection to the problem but it does seem to have started since the outside temperature has dropped , I have a frost protection heater in the garage as all the plumbing is in there, but this only keeps the ambient temperature to 5 deg c , is it maybe an indication of a sensor out of range or frost condition , I suppose I can only prove this when the weather warms up .
I don’t want to take the shot gun approach of replacing the PCB only to find the fault re occurs , im aware modern domestic appliances have somewhat flaky and poorly designed electronics , I have a Whirlpool American style fridge freezer that I bought about 12 years ago , this would have occasional issues with the controller going into a wobble and having to be reset by powering down and on again, Whirlpool replaced the PCB twice under warranty in the first year but the problem persisted , after a few tests I eventually found that installing contact suppressors across both the fridge and freezer light door switches cured the issue, and to this day the fault has never re occurred .I have a short video clip of the lights and can upload this if it may help.
    Many Thanks,
    Oliver.

always worth a try but to you cant upload video here due to size problems, you need to host it on utube or the like and post a link

most error codes would come up with a specific code like E01

Right the machine is not designed to work anywhere other than in a kitchen where the ambient temperature is above 5 degrees i have a hoover washing machine where the machine is still in warranty and it is in a cold area condensation and moisture has got on the motor and caused the machine to fail a pat test I changed the pcb nfc electronics and this did not cure the fault im going back tomorrow to change the motor and the harness I will update u but if this fixes the problem the machine will definitely go faulty again dew to where its installed

Hi, Thanks for this, I would be interested to hear what you find.
Do the manufactures not produce a service manual for there appliances these days, as in my experience these give a far greater range of diagnostic checks as well as component values and operating logic, I only work on commercial and industrial machinery and generally manufacture information is brilliant, but I do appreciate a Candy domestic appliance is not built to those standards .
As the machine works after a reset and has as yet never failed during a wash/dry cycle, I will just continue to use it and see if the issue disappears when the weather warms up, either that or it will die completely .
Let me know if you know where I can access a service manual,
Many thanks for your replies, Oliver.

They do not do service manuals as they try to keep the technical information in house if you wish to know the resistance values of any component i may be able to help you as there is generally the same values on most components give or take

Just a update on the machine I’ve been out to harness and motor changed ousted a oat test but still leds are cycling,I have submitted a report to hoover so they will probably write the machine off

OK , so if it helps anyone in the future this fault is indicating the water thermistor is out of range , as long as I keep the ambient temperature above 4 degrees I don’t get the fault. since turning up the frost heater in the garage, and the ambient temperature rising , I’ve not had the fault since I last posted .
What I do find very annoying is why this information is not available , its simply a fault code , even when I spoke to Candy “”Technical”” they insisted the machine was definitely at fault and I needed an engineer . Would have been interested to see what the engineer would have said , that’s one call out they wouldn’t have been paid for !!
