ParticipantHi Im on with a repair to a Candy GVW 1585CT3W-80 Washer Dryer and I’ve fallen stuck ! Serial number 31006234 1524 1223.
On the first visit, the lady told me that it was stuck full of water after her 2 year old toddler had been playing around like crazy with the touch controls on the machine.
When the machine was switched ‘off’ it would begin to fill with water, I couldn’t get it to do drain or do anything normal really.
I went over all the usual checks with my insulation tester, heater fine, motor fine, cleaned out the program selector potentiometer, etc etc. In the end I put the fault down to a faulty control module suspecting the eprom was perhaps mashed.
Ordered up a new ‘Programmed’ module from connect p/n 49031562 and went back to fit it.
Now the machine seems to switch on but the screen only displays a series of 8’s
As a test of my sanity I fitted back the original PCB and the old fault came back, filling up when turned off etc etc.
I played the waste pipe down into a bowl to drain it to drop the pressure system but it made no difference.
I have at some point in my efforts had the pump running so it’s not blocked/stopped.
In my own mind I’m convinced the new PCB is NOT programmed ???
I have a GIAS memory loader unit that I acquired a few years back, but unfortunately the machine is too recent in time for the units database and I don’t have the facility / knowledge to update it 🙁
Just wondering if there are any GIAS engineers on here who may be able to shed some light into this or any engineer who has fallen victim to such a fault ?
I eagerly await in hope for a response. It’s a job for a friend too which has to this point cost me some money 🙁
Thanks very much,

hi Curious
Why did the customer not call out GIAS ? And the core board that you’ve been supplied is incorrect as that one ended week 36 2014.
If you want the correct one then we can supply as we are a GIAS centre

If you have a up to date mem loader and the module you have is the same the board can be re programmed to any washer dryer with that module fact! I think you have a selection issue I had a candy washer dryer and the dryer would come on no matter what programme you selected if the heater isn’t megging out at ol infinity I would look at changing that 1st sorted out the one I had part number for heater is HVR41042459 as they are having problems with the heaters check the wattage of heater 1st,hope this helps you kai ex gias engineer (Hoover)

Thanks Kaibart for that. The heater checked fine with megger and to be certain I tried running the machine with the heater out of circuit and the motor also. Im convinced it’s a software corruption on the module, but sadly my me loader is set back in 2011. I would seriously LOVE to be able to update it, but no idea how to go about it. 🙁

Need to be able to download updates from giastech only option is knowing a engineer to do it for you or may be able to do it through giastech on connect not sure about that thou, Why I say the heater is the length is different on the 1 that’s on the machine compared to the p/n I give you,if you had taken these out of circuit and run the machine surely a fault would have come up, even if you met is out of date why didn’t you plug it in to read for any error as that will still work plus you have a function on there call boards manager which can give you part numbers for modules.

Sorry but the 2 boards are different. they are also not superseded to the same board. And no the MEM reader will not reprogram all the wash driers which are listed as separate boards. If it did then I would only need to keep one board fits all wash driers.
We have MEM readers and can update whenever it requires as we are an authorised service centre and have access to all the software and all the new NFC programming and error reading program.
