ParticipantHi. This is my first post so please go easy on me 😉
Just before Xmas my wife noticed our tumble dryer wasnt drying any of our clothes! It was only blowing out cold air and the filter service light was lit.
I cleaned the filter and inside the various areas that fluff was evident. Put the filter back and the problem persists.
Had a little search online yesterday for help on the matter and explanations that I was given pointed the finger of fault at the element or more likely the thermostat.
Anyway I have tested across the thermostat at the rear of the dryer for continuity and assuming the thermostat is the round shaped component at the bottom of the first pic below then it belled out fine.
However to the side of this was another device that to be honest Im not sure what it is. I tested across this resulting in no continuity.
Is it possible this is at fault? If so what is the part called so I can source a replacement?
As far as the element coils are concerned I have given these no more that a visual inspection to check there are no signs of damage/wear and tear at this stage.
Many thanks for any help or guidance you pros can pass on.
Rob.
Here is the first pic showing the thermostat(below?) connected that tested fine. Note I have removed the other device (above) that was showing no signs of continuity on test…
Here is a closer pic (sorry not crystal clear) of part. Faulty?

Participantok, heres the truth
its a thermal overload
somethings overheated, and is tripped outits usually the cycling stat that causes it, maybe a blocked condenser
there was some muppet not long ago who sourced a 4p part from somewhere and got it working
and it probably will, for a short time.. hoover do not supply anything other than a complete heater unit
remember when searching that adding non manufacturer recommended parts invalidtaes warranty and housheold insurance policies in the event of serious failure
for the price, you’d be better to fit a heater unit complete, so you and your family can sleep safely at night
part number 04820086

Thanks very much for that speedy response Helo. Are you saying then from my results that the problem is the overload?
Reason for my asking is, ok yes I am prepared to buy a whole heating unit. I can see the importance in not botching it up with cheap parts for the safety of my family.
Just want to make sure that once ive gone to the expense that I have overcome the problem and its not actually somewhere else.
Many thanks.
PS. The part number you gave me. Is that for me to source through Candy themselves or are there other online spare dealers you can recommend?

Participantyou can buy the element from the online shop
if u click the shop link above, and email them, theyll be able to help you quickly
to be fair, a new heater assembly cures it every time

Following your instructions Helo I purchased the whole heating element part for around £30 with the delivery.
Came yesterday.
Just had a look at it out in the garage but cant find a way into the machine to disconnect the cables with spade heads on. Only obvious way is removing the top via 3 screws but the drum is the full width of the dryer and the connections are at the bottom of the machine.
I am probably missing something here. Surely its not accessable from underneath the machine?!
MAny thanks.
