ParticipantI have a Candy CPC290FFK fridge/freezer. Yesterday it worked, today it doesn’t!
This morning it was running (although not sounding the same as usual) but the green light was on. I thought it might be going through some sort of self-defrost routine when I found the fridge section warmer than usual but then I discovered that the freezer had defrosted itself too!
It hasn’t been moved recently or anything and the doors were properly closed but it doesn’t seem to any to cool down again. Any thoughts? It sounds like a duff thermostat to me but I have not investigated further yet.
I guess what I really want to know is if it is worth trying to fix it or should I just bite the bullet and buy a new one? This one is not quite 3 years old which seems rather new to me!
Thanks in anticipation.

It may be worth a look to be honest, the likely problem is a faulty PCB (no thermostat in this model).
If you’re OK with testing electrical circuits etc and are going to have look, please power off :zap: before testing or check repairs@ for an engineer.
PCB, should it prove faulty is around £45 so not too bad 😀

Thanks Dave,
Just got back from holiday yesterday to find your reply. I thought I’d turn the fridge on, just and the off-chance. It seems to be working. Needless to say, I have lost my confidence that it will continue to do so! Does this give you any additional thoughts?
I’ve yet to examine its innards. To be honest, if I could find a trustworthy local repaired I’d give him a call rather than get my hads dirty but sadly, Repairs@ doesn’t list any for my area.
Thanks again.
