Candy GV168T3W washing machine stopped working recently, swapped out the control board with a new one bought online and the machine is atleast turning on again. Unfortunately, the knob/selector switch is now bugging out. When the knob is in the OFF position the machine stays on. In short, the mode selected on the knob does not reflect what is shown on the LED display. There was never an issue with the selector switch before.

Did I receive a bad control board or is it the switch?

The switch has two wires coming out of it but I could not find any information on how these work.

    I don’t follow.
The control module pcb board part number that I have is 41043318
The selector switch connects to this control module board with 2 wire plug.

Problem is the the mode selected using the knob switch does not relate to the mode shown on the LED display.

Do you know what may cause such a problem?

ah you have swopped the front panel touch board

thats not the programmed board in the machine there are 2 boards

that rotary switch is no more than a variable resistance that tells the main board which programme to run

have you tried removing and replacing the plugs on the main board that link the 2 boards together. sometimes its just a bad connection

The machine stopped working, it had power from the mains but it was dead, no sound or light on the front panel display. I replaced the touch control board with a new one and the machine was running again but now the knob/selector switch is out of sync with the display. This was never an issue before. I tried reconnecting the wire several times, tried switching off from mains and adjusting the knob but regardless of what I do the machine is always ON when the knob is in OFF position. Even if I disconnect the switch wire whilst the machine is on and reposition the knob to the mode shown on the display – As soon as I reconnect the switch wire, it changes to an incorrect mode.

The only diference between now and then is the new touch control board. I think the control board is misreading the switch selector, whether that be resistance or some kind of encoded signal idk.

Is it safe to say the touch control board is slighty faulty or am I overlooking something?

cant be certain on that one.
we dont know if its interpreted on the front panel or the main board. The control software is on the main board as the control panel is not programmed

as said the knob is purely a resistance that changes as you rotate it
see chart below. starts from off and rotates to left

When the top pcb is changed touch control the selector switch is normally supplied with it and you fit it in a different position as they have had problems with the 59 minute program not working
