ParticipantOk, this is what’s happening:
Last 3-4 washes, clothes coming out wet because there is no final spin.
Have tried final spin programme with machine empty, and it runs up to full speed and spins normally
Have tried final spin programme with just three cotton tea cloths, and machine wouldn’t spin (did not even attempt to spin, but just sat motionless with drain pump running)I’m trying to figure out possible causes:
Out of balance seems most obvious, but it seems that any amount of load is stopping a spin – where would I find the switch/sensor, and what could I check? Is there anything else that these symptons may point too? it seems that both motor and programmer are working ok.
As always, any help and advise gratefully received – machine is 7yrs + old, so I accept that most repairs will not be economic.

Not knowing the machine and, that’s not a real model number I can find… 😉
If it’s got an induction motor then capacitor or PCB are likely suspects, the motor is unlikely.
If it’s a brush motor, possibly brushes, motor itself, armature (which means the motor needing replaced), PCB are likely candidates.
However it does sound like an OOB error, most are built into the PCB and cannot be tampered with. But do make sure that the belt is really tight as many use the belt as part of the system that detects an out of balance condition.
That’s about as much help as I can be with it.

Hi – thanks for the response. I can get the full model/serial numbers if needed.
What I have noticed, is that for and aft movement on the drum is now accompanied by a clonking noise (not scientific I know!). I know that the drum is floating and the movement is normal, but I’m sure the noise was never there before. However, the machine spins very quietly with no load on the spin part of the programme.
I’ve looked inside the back and nothing obvious – I will check the belt tension, but would I expect to hear the belt slipping as it tried to run up to speed? The suspension systems seem to be intact and firmly fixed all round.
