ParticipantHave a customer at place I work and she bought a cannon cooker from us give or take 2 years back.
Now she is sure that the other salesman here said it can be converted to L.p.g so she bought it and has kept it until recently to be installed in her new house in the sticks whereas she finds out it cannot be converted , Cannon sell the same cooker in l.p.g.What can she do she has a lovely cooker that she would love to use but can’t.
I do not touch gas and will not but I am sure that it would be a case for the right person of changing a few components jets, adaptor maybe more. Or am I very wrong?
in essence has anyone got a parts list / Exploded view of these 2 cookers please?November 27, 2007 at 2:44 pm #235512Martin

I have checked both model exploded views and they look exactly the same in every detail except for the ‘injectors’ to each burner. I would guess that conversion to LPG can be undertaken? It likely would involve a great deal of work removing and replacing all the various injectors, but very possible nevertheless.
I would suggest you contact the Indesit company and ask for their technical assistance in the matter? They may possibly stock a full ‘conversion kit’ for just such instances? 😉

What they look like and what they are is two different things.
You cannot convert these models as the 10401 is a LPG model that has LPG jets and LPG ffd,s fitted to it.
I will give her fifty quid for it though. 😆November 27, 2007 at 4:40 pm #235514jwd_73

But could the ffds be replaced for lpg versions? so if the pipework and holes are same size which I am sure they would be should be poss?I have seen them for £50 each on e spares.
I know it would be a crappy job to do but just giving her all options.

The thermostats would need changing as well and all the gas taps would need replacing, along with all the injectors,i woould reckon you are looking at about three hours work, because they are an awkward beast to strip down, two man job usually as the top is a bit on the heavy side.
I cant see there being much change out of four hundred quid, sorry mate she is going to have to cut her losses.
I for one would not touch it with a bargepole, this is not a manufacturer approved conversion and as such breaks a few of the gas regs ie modifying gas appliances.
Fifty quid and i will pick it up if it is local 😉
As an aside to this i can never understand why people buy stuff so far in advance of them actually using it,whats the point of having a fifteen hundred quid cooker gathering dust while its warranty is wasting away.November 27, 2007 at 6:59 pm #235516helo_75
Participantlpg stats and ffds?
hows that work then?
does the ffd open the valve different or something? or does the thrmostat knock off at some different temp?
cant see that being the case
all ths lpg conversions ive seen (and incidentally, i changed a bosch one back from lpg to natural gas) just involve changing the injectors, nothing more
since ffd/thermostats are only reactive to heat, the gas pressure is not an issue, is it not?
although, quite often, when u look on partfinder, it does say that the model cannot be converted to lpg, whether thats because they dont want to supply the injectors, im not sure
im sure someone will come and try and contradict me……
cue kiddo

Its not a question of contradicting you its a question of giving someone the correct information. The difference is in the materials ,different seals, diaghphragms etc and the obvious one is a different part number.
Of course if you know different.
