ParticipantI’ve had a fault with my Cannon C60ETX electric oven for a while. I bought the oven from new 6 years ago and apart from changing the main oven fan 2 years ago it’s been spot on.
Ok so here goes with the fault. I initially suspected the main oven fan again as when I switch the oven on the fan starts to pick up speed but ‘pulsates’. The fan speed keeps dropping, then picks up again quickly and you can here an audible thud as it does. If I put my hand on the outside of the main oven door I can also feel it as it pulses. It’s as if the fan is losing electrical power. It carries on like this until the oven is up to temperature then appears to settle down but still occasionally does it.
However, the theory that it may be the main oven fan was put into doubt when I used the top oven (grill). Using the top oven initiates the cooling fan (as does the main oven). I listened carefully and the cooling fan was pulsing and constantly losing speed as the top oven was heating up. I also noticed that the cooling fan speed only pulsed or lost speed when the grill element came on. As soon as the grill element was switched off by the top oven thermostat the cooling fan behaved normally?
My only thoughts are when I was using the top oven, the main oven fan and associated heating elements were not being used so how could it be a main oven component? If the top oven or grill element was faulty then why does it exhibit the problem when using just the main fan oven and the grill is off?
I’m struggling a bit with this one. I have read the article on oven safety switches/cooling fan control thermostats. The only common component that is in use when either the main oven is on or the top oven/grill is on is the cooling fan. Could it be the cooling fan control thermostat taking power away from the cooling fan and main oven fan?
Any help on this would be much appreciated.
Thank you
