hi guys , i had a look at this cooker and it has no gas coming out of the fsd , there is gas going in and when i removed the solenoid it activated when the oven knob was turned on , so power going to the fsd when it is turned on is this the correct operation of the fsd , and what makes the fsd operate thanks

look for broken wires to the fsd, they are prone to getting burnt

gas pressure @ fsd from gas valve/thermostat? blocked injector, blocked burner. assuming you hv 21mb and its NG give or take at fsd , solonoid has power to it, injector isnt blocked then its a goosed fsd.

are you gas safe registered ? 😕

in a word jeremy no , i have done a 6 day course which to be honest wasnt great , gas installation GID its called here , it cost me 850 euro!! and now i really need a domestic gas appliance repair and serviceing course . i have done 2 jobs on gas cookers since the start of the year ! it hasnt paid off and i am not going to spend 1500 euro !! that i dont have to do the domestic appliance course that lasts about a week or so , i mean what can you learn in a week ? can you say rip off republic !

i dont know the laws of ireland with gas regs but here you would be putting your neck on the line touching them ! if you have only done 2 jobs then i would steer clear of them !

here you do ccn1 (core) then do the modules ie, cookers, fires, boilers, lpg, water heaters, tumble dryers etc. once thats done you (under present system) have to build a portfolio of work before you can join gas safe which then allows you to do the gas work on your own.from scratch courses + exams for ccn1 + cookers would be about 2k , so not alot different. its gettign the protfolio of work that gets most tbh.

yeah its a bit different here , you either need to be a plumber with an rgii cert and you can jump into the domestic appliance serviceing or you start from scratch like me and do the 3 steps installer course , fault finding and domestic appliances ,this would be a fast track method less than 6 months but at a cost of around 3,500 euro , other than that its college for 2 or 3 yrs . i’m not going to go further as the laws here are getting tight plus i dont want to endanger myself and others cheers mate
