    Hi
I have the above natural gas cooker. Two problems.
    1. The timer/display is an invensys EL 198/379.14A. The only problem with this is that the contact strip under one of the control buttons has a torn contact. As the timer cost so much can the rubber contact strip be purchased?
    2. The top oven has not been reaching a normal temperature. There is a vent at the back that stays open when using the grill. When using the top oven this closes. I have noticed that it does not fully close and stays open about 15mm. Should this vent fully close when using the top oven?
    Cheers

The first problem I can help with and the answer is a simple no, all these sorts of timer units are supplied as complete items, you can’t get the internal components.

On the second question I don’t know as I’m not familiar with the cooker. That said, I’d have expected it to close fully.

    Many thanks.
The vent mechanism had a slightly loose grub screw on the arm at the front. Some small amount of wear. The plastic parts lubricated with copper grease. Copper grease will wear plastic due to the copper in it. I’ve had it from new and would have thought that any lubrication would have been food grade grease. Now all sorted and adjusted.
As for the timer contacts, looks like it’s back to the old type clockwork cooking timer!
As for the things I’ve found and the grease. I now respect the cooker service man for his bravery, skill and tenacity.
    Cheers.
