    Evening,

I have the above appliance (dual fuel, the smaller top oven is gas and larger main oven is fan assisted electric).

Problem is main fan oven temperature overshoot:

On min (should be about 70*C) – 105*C
    On 130*C – 175*C
    On 180*C – 240*C

Appliance is about 10 years old and over the years has had several new elements and a new fan.

I guess the oven thermostat needs to be replaced? Is this part reasonably accessible? And, should any other parts be changed ‘whilst I’m there’?

Also, the top oven auto ignition packed up years ago after an incident with some flaming sausages under the grill! Maybe a wire was burnt through. Again, any thoughts on repairing that, if I’ve got the thing apart anyway, would be very greatfully received!

NOTE – I’M NOTE LOOKING TO DO ANY WORK WHATSOEVER WITH THE GAS PIPES, CONTROLS OR FITTINGS OF THIS APPLIANCE.

    Many thanks!

Yes, probably the stat but the model number you have doesn’t seem to exist. 😕

Ignition is probably the spark generator that’s faulty if they all don’t work.

Sorry 10216G is the model number. All hob ignition is fine, just the grill and the top oven packed up after said incident!

    Many thanks.

    No probs.

The main oven thermostat is this one.

It could well be a busted wire for the ignition or a spark plug faulty but you’d have to dig about to find out for sure.

Hi, I’ve just taken it apart but the spare doesn’t fit! It’s orientation is 90-degrees out, and fouls the hob support steel. Here are the two side-by-side:

And here is the steel work that it fouls:

Do you have an alternative part? Markings on the original are 8803-03, DE, R in a U symbol, and “04 01” in ink (which I guess is when it was made).

    Many thanks,
    James.

    Hi James,

Yeah, they can be a bit of an annoyance to fit and that is the pukka replacement thermostat.

I came across this before on another one, there’s a thread on here somewhere about it and it involved drilling new mounting holes IIRC to get the orientation right. But it was ages ago.

There’s two versions of that cooker, the latter one simply a Mk2 and both main oven thermostats for both models now resolve to that part number. Basically, that’s what Indesit now supply.

I’ll check in the morning with them to see what the deal is on it as there’s no notices that I can see unless any of the guys have come across it before and can give an answer sooner than I can get one for you.

Hi, many thanks for your help, it is greatly appreciated.

I did think about turning the whole mechanism through 90-degress by drilling new mounting holes on the support plate, which would be fine other than the knob then being 90-degrees apart from the markings on the dial!

Right, sorted this now… actually it was pretty easy.

The replacement part has almost exactly the same external dimensions as the original, except that its axis is rotated 90-degress clockwise. However there is enough clearance to accomodate the switching mechanism itself 90-degress counterclockwise (i.e. on its side), hence as stated this can be achieved by drilling a couple of new holes in the mounting plate.

This will however leave the knob similarly twisted, byt this can be easily resolved by grinding a new flat face onto the rotor too:

Now to test it! Re the other problem, the spark gen is shot on outputs ReIgn1 and Ign5 it seems, so I need to get another one which I think is now C00241368 (was GR101A5/1). Can’t see it in the online store though…

    Cheers!

Superb and, good bit of work. 🙂

Spark generator listed here for you, I will admit to doing it and not putting too much detail there as, it’s late, it’s Sunday night… 😉

By the way, I wrapped some standard black electrical insulation tape around the (bare metal) crimp connectors on the thermostat to be sure of no contact to the surrounding steel, but I now wonder whether such tape is suitable for use in this location because of the potential for heat (from the grill for example)?

Re: Cannon Harmony (80216G) Oven Temp Overshoot

Just to close this one off – I replaced the spark generator with the replacement cited above which sorted that. Fortunately Cannon enclosed wiring instructions as all the terminals are labelled differently. Shame they didn’t think to include an advisory on the thermostat which is completely incompatible with the cooker without the modifications described above.

While I had it apart I also replaced the insulation tape I’d used on the thermostat wiring with some heat resistant sheath (the same cotton-type stuff that is used over the thermostat pipe at the back of the thermostat).

So anyway, thanks very much for all the assistance on this, the whole thing is now working perfectly again!
