The RH glass top bracket has come loose after the bolt somehow managed to come loose and fall out. How it got out is a mystery as there’s not enough space to persuade it to go back in.
The extruded aluminium side trim strip blocks easy access, and although there only appears to be one securing screw, the blasted thing won’t budge.
Before I revert to basic engineering and drill an access hole, anybody know how to get this off?

It’s a 10296G. Looking at it, the trim strips look like they should pull out to the back, but removing the screw and inserting a narrow blade at the front end just moves the white plastic section above the control panel forward.

Is this the top cavity door or the lower one?

It’s the screw that holds the lid bracket onto the hinge assembly that’s come out.

    Hi

Looking at the explosion it is not a DIY job I’m afraid as it would appear that the hob tray and trims need to be removed in order to replace the hinge.

This job would need to be carried out by a Gas Safe engineer. There should be one local to you from the register here Sorry but we have to be safe when it comes to gas.

Re: Cannon Windsor Mk2 Glass Top Bracket

The hinge assembly is easily accessed behind the side panel but the hinge assembly actuates the top down hob shut off valve, so I don’t want to mess with that. Also, there’s no obvious way to stop the spring going wild!
I’ll revert to drilling an access through the trim panel to poke the screw through. It’ll be hidden when the cooker’s pushed back and that way, I’m not interfering with any functional components.

    Thanks for your help.

Re: Cannon Windsor Mk2 Glass Top Bracket

Finally got round to having a proper look at this yesterday and it turned into a ten minute easy fix, Three screws to release the side panel and two to release the hinge assembly. The spring isn’t loaded so it all went back together easily.
No need for a Gas Safe ‘engineer’.

    Hi

I still have to refer you to our forum rules on DIY gas repairs and to anyone else who may read this in the future.
