ParticipantHello,
I have manage to diagnose the issue with my washing machine (Hoover VHD 8122) thanks to help of this forum.
The machine was flashing 3 times on any cycle even drain. After confirming that the dump pump was working fine, their were no blockages anywhere and also testing the pressure switch the last variable in the equation was the heating element.
The machine worked normally when I disconnected the element from having any power.
I have already ordered a new element but I cannot seem to remove the element from the machine. I have researched how to do this on YouTube and followed the instructions but it just won’t come out. In fact the metal part has separated from the rubber (as shown in the image attached). I am able to move the element and secure the nut but this part just won’t come out.
Any advice on how I can get this part out?
Thanks,

No easy way, you could try and slide the heater back in far enough to allow you to refit the nut loosely on the very end of the threaded shaft. Then knock the shaft back in, this ‘may’ free the inner metal plate from the back of the rubber. Either way you will have to prise, prod, poke and pull at the rubber grommet using thin flat bladed screwdrivers until you manage to get it out.

Or……
Refit the nut onto the thread a few turns then you can get a pair of point nose pliers behind the nut and lever against the tub. Lubricate the aperture with a little Fairy liquid will make it slip through easier. Do be careful not to damage the plastic aperture, or the tub for that matter.
In more extreme difficult situations use those point nose pliers to pull the rubber grommet out before attempting to move the heater. Again care toward the plastic getting damaged in any way.

Hello both,
I managed to get it out. In the end I just jammed a philips head screw driver and forced it out.
I didn’t really have to worry about protecting the heating element or the rubber gourment since I am waiting for a replacement part.
I will clean inside as best as I can and await the replacement part.
Thanks again,
