Cannot set time on Hoover HFO-415X

We have just moved into a new house, and we’re having problems with the cooker that was left for us:

It seemed to be working fine when we moved in, but after turning the power off and back on again, we’re unable to get it working.

The display flashes 0:00 and “auto”, which is what the manual says should happen. The instructions then say we must press the “timer” and “end” buttons together, while pressing the up or down arrow buttons to set the time. Then the oven will be ready for use.

However, when we try this, nothing happens. Whichever buttons we press, the display continues to flash 0:00 and “auto”. And since we can’t set the time, we can’t use the oven… 🙄

Has anyone seen this type of problem before? Is there anything we can do to get it working again?

Any help greatly appreciated (we really cannot afford to buy a new oven on top of everything else!)

I sorted it!

Turns out the manual was wrong. I methodically went through loads of different button combinations, and the following worked:

Hold down the “bell” and “timer” button simultaneously, and use the up and down arrow buttons to set the time.

Looks like RTFM was a bad idea in this case 🙂
