Hi, whenever we turn on the top oven, a grating noise is generated. It sounds like the cooling fan has got something stuck in it.

1- Where is the cooling fan located in the cooker, and is it possible to look at without dismantling it too much?

2- Could the oven be used, as although the fan is making an awful noise, there is still a draught coming out from below the control panel?

Finally, we are able to use the grill fine, which is slightly confusing. Surely the grill requires the cooling fan too?

    Thanks,
    Dominic

the cooling fan does 2 jobs

1 it keeps the controls cool so they dont get to hot when the grill is on
2 it provides an air curtain to stop the heat and smoke fron getting on the control panel and knobs
on some cookers it is also used to keep the door cool to stop people burning themselves

the grill does not need a fan but there will be an overheat stat that will switch off the grill if the controls area get too hot

it is normally in the top of the unit at the back so to get at it you would have to remove the oven and take the top off

dont forget to switch off first
