I have a Canon dual oven dual fuel cooker model CH60 DPXFS which was bought new in September last year.
It developed a spurious fault which manifested itself with the tripping of the consumer unit main RCD when the top oven reached its preset temperature, this eventually became constant fault whenever the top oven was used. This only happened with the top oven, the grill part of the top oven and the main oven both worked fine.

A service technician “fixed” the problem last week by replacing the top oven control potentiometer and all seemed fine however the spurious tripping has begun again. I’ve contacted Hotpoint and a technician is due to look at the cooker again next month. The problem is, as this problem is spurious I may not be able to reproduce the problem to show the technician and thus be charged the fifty odd quid for the call out.

Has anyone had the same problem and how was it fixed?

tripping RCD faults are normally down to element faults. if your grill works ok then that element is eliminated
on most top ovens there is a second element under the floor of the oven and I suspect this element (should be part no C00230135 on yours) has an earth fault when it gets hot
cant think why he changed the potentiometer unless he thought is was getting too hot

To conclude this thread, the grill started to trip the the RCD on occasions too. So when the technician looked at the oven he decided to replace the three elements along with the control board. This was two weeks ago and so far we’ve had no problems.
Thank you for your reply eletrofix.
