I’ve ordered a new filter cap thinggy for my Bosch washing machine, thanks to your help, but I can’t get the old one off. Because the filter cap was on so tight I couldn’t turn it and used pliers and snapped the handle bit, so now I have nothing to grip on to turn it. Can someone advise how I can get it off to put the new one on. I looked underneath and the filter thing obviously fits into something else – the only thing I can think of is to use a chisel to make some holes so I can get a grip with the pliers to twist it off, trying not to damage the black seal. Help!
It might be best to leave it until you have the new one before attacking the existing cap. The new one should come with a new sealing washer. If you drill a couple of holes and insert a pair of narrow nose pliers you should be able to turn it.
you probably find that something long is in the sump hose and sitting across the filter, the only way to solve that is to remove or drop the pump down and take off the sump hose from the pump.
remember to switch off!
Thanks so much – got a drill, made some holes, got a hammer and small chisel, hammered away some of the plastic, got the pliers in, twisted and pulled it out. Found some money (the reason for it making so much noise), put the new filter in, and hey presto, it’s working great and no flooding of the kitchen floor. Thanks again for all your help and advice!
