ParticipantHi. I’ve recently taken out the condenser unit in my Creda T622CW tumble dryer – to clean it. Now I can’t seem to fit it back in quite properly. More particularly; the door won’t shut. I think that’s because the unit isn’t in snugly enough; it’s sticking out, probably less than a centimetre, too far. I’ve stuck my arm through to see if anything’s blocking it at the back but all that’s there is a row of white knobbles (probably not the technical term) and I presume they’re meant to be there, to hold it in place. They’re pretty firmly fixed on. My husband thinks the fault may be with the door catch, but the door still closes fine when the condenser unit is removed.
Does anyone have any suggestions, however basic?

You’re putting it in upside down or back to front?

I think I’ve tried every option on that…

Sometimes the back edges of the condensor unit warp over time, this can make it very difficult to refit, do they look a bit wavy?

They do look a bit wavy! Oh good, I’m not going insane. So is there anything I can do?

Not easy, I have trimmed them a little with a Stanley knife, but on the odd one that has been really bad then a new (expensive) condensor was needed. 😥
Part number C00095577, around £76.00 :eeek:

One thing I did once to get a customer out of trouble was to drill a few pilot holes top and bottom of the condenser and then use a piece of thin garden wire to pull the wavy bits into shape.

Thanks everyone, I’ve trimmed a little bit off the back and it’s gone back in okay. Just hope it doesn’t break down fatally any time soon…
