ParticipantI’ve never seen this before, and I can’t find any manuals for this make, a Teba TFB66Y
I am going crazy not knowing what this oven function does, please help!
The make might be a Günkol (see second attachment)

The symbol next to it is the normal fan oven heating (the one below closer to 0). Unless there is another fan oven heating option of some sort?

So, going clockwise from Zero (0)
Fan assisted grill
Grill only
Top and bottom heat (with fan assistance)
Top and bottom heat only (as in conventional oven)
Fan oven heat (from element encircling the fan)
…and finally Defrost (fan only with no heat)

As for it being defrost: well, this conundrum started when we were making a 1 kilo side of pork, and my wife put it on this mystery setting by mitake. I wondered why the roast was taking so long, but after 1½ hours, my roast actually climbed to 70 degree celcius temperature (starting at 15ish). It doesn’t usually take so long with fan heated (the setting immediately to the left of/counter-clockwise to 0).
That started this whole investigation, because I hate not knowing! .-) I’m guessing a defrost setting WOULD warm things up slowly, but the symbol is just so unlike the regular snowflake icon used for defrost.
Martin: the image to the immediate left of/counter-clockwise to 0 is fan oven heating. It’s what we always cook with.

Martin: I just experimented a bit. You are right in your list it seems!
The symbol I said we use doesnt get over 50 degrees celcius.
We use the fan heat top and bottom most of the time.
I don’t understand the difference between:
1) Top and bottom heat (with fan assistance)
2) Fan oven heat (from element encircling the fan)We usually make food with 1, but the roast was made (slowly) with 2.

ovendesperation wrote:I don’t understand the difference between:
1) Top and bottom heat (with fan assistance)
2) Fan oven heat (from element encircling the fan)1) Is baking requiring intensive heat where the need for browning both top and bottom is required. (Middle shelf only recommended)
Most manufacturers have discontinued cooking option (1)
2) Fan oven provides even air circulation irrespective of shelf position and the temperature can be reduced by at least 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} over conventional heat baking/roasting.
Below is another guide for typical oven symbols: –
