ParticipantHi,
I have a small leak on my LG F1403YD5 which is 2.5 years old. I suspect it is a worn rubber pipe or something simple, and I don’t want to call someone out unless it’s a big problem.
I’m disabled so I don’t have much money, and very little strength. I would settle for tearing the lino if it meant i could get it out but I am not strong enough to force it out. I managed to free three feet, but the rear one on the right has, I think, dug into the lino and won’t come out. I can pull the machine forward a few inches, but no more, as I suspect the lino has no more give in it, but it is strong enough not to rip unfortunately.
I just can’t get the damn thing out and I have a 2 year old daughter who is potty training and I need the washing machine working.
How can I get it out?
thanksOctober 26, 2013 at 7:44 pm #403469kwatt

With difficulty I’m afraid.
You sorta need to tip the machine forward as best you can and haul it out but, in a lot of situations, the lino will come out with it. Often, it’s a case of brute force and ignorance mixed with a little finesse to try to work them out.
It’s a real pain when it happens and not a lot anyone can do to prevent damage other than to try and minimise it as best they can.
If you have limited strength I can understand that it would be a very difficult task.

……..also, now you have moved it a little forwards push it at the top to tip it backward sufficient to lift the 2 front feet clear of the floor. Clear enough to place (something like) a small rug or doormat under the front feet. Now you can open the door of the machine, grab the inner drum at the top then yank the machine towards you. The mat should enable it to slide easily clear and out…! 😀

ParticipantLG F1403YD5 small leak, I think from a small hose?
I’ve got a small leak, enough to make the kitchen floor wet and need fixing.
Lid off, I see three, of what I guess are inlet valves, and from these valves, two run in parallel to the soap draw. One of these is a bit wet and at the valve end i can see it is not seated correctly, but a few mm away from the valve. Here is a photo:
I guess the clip is not strong enough or has worked lose, or the hose may have worn a bit?
Either way, I’m guessing a new hose and clips will fix the problem and only cost a few quid. Question is, which part is it and where can I get a new one ASAP?thanks

thanks for the replies. I managed to get it out. I tried putting the mat under the front an that helped reduce the friction but it was still stuck. In the end, I got my wrecking bar from the garage and fed it over the top and hooked it onto the back lip – this allowed me to lift the rear end from the front and clear it over the bunched up lino.
Here is a photo of the offending lino:
It’s a new build, and when the kitchen was installed they obviously fitted the lino over the whole floor before fitting the kitchen and this meant that the lino wasn’t going to let go of the machine’s foot.
To avoid this problem in future, and make extraction easier, what should I do? Cut away the lino entirely? If I can do something now to make it easier later that would be well worth doing I’d think.
As well as making it more easy maintenance next time, I also have to fix the leak!
I’ve started a new post about that, if interested it is here:

Lino is the worst thing for machines getting stuck IMO. Put a piece of hardboard down first or as you say cut the link back

………carpet/lino fitters usually use adhesive to secure vinyl flooring in appliance cavities. I can only imagine yours wasn’t? You can heat up kinked vinyl with a hand held hair dryer to straighten it then glue it down securely or use industrial strength vinyl double-sided tape. 💡

They didn’t stick it down, no. Same goes for much in my house unfortunately!
It has torn a bit and is a right mess where the feet would go so I’ve cut it off. Is there any reason why it can’t just sit on the concrete?

ParticipantRe: LG F1403YD5 small leak, I think from a small hose?
So I ran the machine with the lid off and the bottom of the two hoses tied together in this photo was bulging badly when the water was pumped through it, causing it to leak where it is clipped to the inlet valve. Is it just the hose that is at fault or is there some other problem here?
Thanks

At the w/e I cut a piece of plyboard to fit under and set the washing machine on that. All was good.
Today, I got a chance to test if it worked or not, and it did – it is a lot easier to move out on the plyboard.
Unfortunately the reason why I had to take it out was that the new hose I fitted has burst! Water all over the place including the electrics, blowing the fuse. Can anyone help me to figure out why this has happened? Sure, the hose could be faulty, but more likely there is too much pressure going to the hose for some reason. Could the inlet valve be faulty and cause this?
thanks

Check that the inlet nozzles into the dispenser aren’t scaled up/blocked?

YES!
That looks to be the problem. I took the tray out and it does seem that both inlets (there are two hoses running to the tray) are partly blocked and the offending side is the most blocked out of the two – quite a narrow opening left there in fact, so it looks quite likely this is the cause! I have unblocked it and the difference is quite noticable in diameter.I need to finish drying out my kitchen and the machine before I try out the fix tomorrow, but I have high hopes now! fortunately I bought two hoses just in case, so I already have a spare that I can fit.
Thank you very much Martin for your kind help – I sincerely appreciate it! People like me rely on the kindness of strangers to get by, so please feel good about yourself!
Best
