I went to a Bosch washer Enr WAE24162UK/10 to do a bearing change.

Having removed the plastic tub, I cannot for the life of me see how to split the tub into the two halves. There are molded-in plastic clips all round the drum, which I cannot see a way to undo. Also screws, which I have removed.

Can anyone help – am I missing the obvious and being dumb, is there a special tool, or what??

The older Bosch tubs came apart easily, but had no integral clips

The Bosch spare parts diagram has it all split apart, implying it can be done…. but I can’t see how.

    Thanks for any guidance.

When you order the brgs and seal you will get extra screws. You need to cut off the plastic clips all the way round to split the tub then screw it back together with the extra screws provided.

Exactly how it happens!! Remove the clips carefully via hacksaw and chissel and the extra screws take up the slack. I got all stressed up about doing one of these but it’s not as bad as it seems! Just take note of the suspention leg mounting to the tub tho.. If ever you need to change a damper it’s gonna be a big job!

Take a dozen steak knives with you and insert them so as to hold the clips depressed at least half way round the drum. You can then quite easily lever it apart, allowing the knives to fall out as you do so. Zanussi tub screws will fit if you need any extra support when putting it back together. No need for a new seal, just bolster the old one up with silicone.

The official way to replace the suspension legs is to drill out the fixing pegs with a 13.5mm drill as the new ones come with washers and bolts !!! 30min job at most !

I much prefer the idea of taking a canteen of cutlery with me. 😆

But surely you have a set of side cutters like the ones in Martins picture?

Too bulky and heavy for my needs. I use the mini type.

So I get it….. a dozen steak knives are lighter than a pair of snips?? 😀

a wood chisel is alot cheaper than a dozen steak knives and whats more wont indure the rath of the other half for using them for such a thing !

such a common size too, just what everyone has in their tool box, yes I got caught out on one of these, Think I used a 13mm and wiggled it about a bit.
