    Hi,

I have inadvertely ordered a metal capacitor for the said tumble dryer as the original one melted away.

The one I bought was a metal cased capacitor and the one fitted to the machine is a plastic cased.

Would it make any difference if I fitted the metal cased (C00119849 from Qualtex) one instead of the plastic cased (5031689432061 from Connect)?

The original capacitor has a plastic clip stud but the replacement on both have screw requiring a bolt. I think I have a spare bolt lurking somewhere in the van or tool box, failing that in my shed.

    short answer is no

cant see any reason why you cannot fit metal case version. my only advise would be make sure customer cannot touch the metal case or nut when machine plugged in. if they can earth it

The tumble dryer base is earthed so the metal cased capacitor should be ok then?

Done it, good strong earth path on the base to capacitor, all the way back to the earth pin on the plug. I found a nut in the tool box and a shakeproof washer so I used it to secure the capacitor.

Very happy, now it is working fine.
