Hi not sure if this is the right place for this but…..
I will try to be brief, last week my dishwasher packed up so I found this web site and got the details of Capital Repairs from here. Arranged for engineer to come on Thursday got call on Thursday to say van broken down can he come first thing tomorrow (Friday) yeah ok fair enough it happens. Sure enough he turned uo good as gold. He told my wife he did not have the part to fix it and Capital Repairs parts dept would call us later that day to quote a price. Gave him check for £65 and off he toddled. No call back by 4pm so keen to find out if going to scrap or fix phoned them. Spoke with offish guy who informed me they are very busy and they will call later or tomorrow (Saturday), mmm ok. No call back Friday so midday Saturday gave them a call. Another offish guy (not the same one) informed me that the parts dept don’t work on Saturday and I would have to wait until Monday! Started to get annoyed now so asked what the part was they were going to quote for me was (scribble left by engineer hard to decipher), told me it was not on the computer system so he did not know! I asked so how are you going to quote me a price for a part you don’t know about (grrrr). Reply was it might be written down somewhere or he may have told the parts dept directly. Got off phone and deciphered what I thought said Wash motor phoned another company and asked for price of part they said more than £120 so have bought a new dishwasher as other was quite old anyway.
So at the end of all this I was charged £65 for him to tell me it ws broken, no kidding Sherlock! With just a little bit of customer service I may not have come out of this feeling like “they got there £65 for doing next to nothing and are not interested in fixing”. So I guess be warned this is my expereince of Capital Repairs but you may find differently. A letter is in the post them. 😡

    Hi
Most companies charge the labour/call out on first visit as what tends to happen is that the customer either gets the information from the engineer and fix it themselves or they scrap it as in your case; in both instances its the engineer that suffers by way of no compensation for his time and experience. As for Capital Repairs, thats not for me to comment on I’m afraid but for those above.

    Re: Capital Repairs – Beware

Hi yeah I have no problem with a callout fee we all have to make a living. The engineer himself was fine again no problem with him. It’s just the complete lack of customer care after. I still have not had a call back from them to let me know how much the part would be. So you end up feeling like I do, when all they needed was a quick call Friday afternoon to tell me how much the part would be. But when you ring them when they’ve told you they’ll call Sat when part dept don’t work Sat and they can’t even tell you what part they are going to quote for. It does not make them look great.

I’m sorry to learn of your problems and I’m sure the matter is being investigated as to why this happened?

    Hi J,

I sent Capital a mail late yesterday about this and have not had a reply as yet.

However in all honesty I think you’ve been unlucky as Capital do a lot of repairs through the repairs@ system, over 100 to date this year and this is the only time that we know of anything going wrong. Apart from which I know that they are a good company holding many authorised agencies etc.

But, as with everything, we’re all human and the odd mistake can and does happen.

Thanks K your right mistakes happen, but they are also judged on how they deal with it when they do make a mistake. Will see if they can redeem themselves by responding in the right way to my letter to them.
    John.
