ModeratorJust had an e-mail from my darling daughter, wants me to do a favour for one of the senior partners at the law firm she works for. It is a little out of my district but I have agreed to go. Two machines, one Hotpoint T/D, I should be OK with that, 😆 . Other one is a Caple ?? dishwasher. They have just moved into this house and this dishwasher was already installed.
I don’t have a model number yet but it is apparently showing E3. Is it a Smeg, not heating ❓Jim.

KeymasterNot a Smeg as far as I know Jim. Most were dreaded Chinese things. 🙁
I think there were some Whirlpool ones as well IIRC.

Been having a trawl through the forums via search, Smeg does come up on one or two posts, one from R600a. Also Whirpool, ‘German made’. Italian made’ etc, etc.
She is the singer with an in house band at this law firm and he is the drummer, they have a session tonight so I have asked her to get him to furnish me with a model number.

OK, model number of this Caple D/W is Di411, so is it a Smeg?
Customer complains of no heat and E3 in display which is a Smeg no heat code.

KeymasterThey list a DI452 and 453 as well as some washers as being Smeg but not the DI411. 😕

I will just have to have a look when I go, doing the dryer as well so it won’t be a wasted journey, now all I need is a reply to the Ignis D/W question in the Trade Spares and I will be sorted. 8)

Here you go Ken, or anyone else that would like to answer. 😉
Model No: DI411. Type. 12033. NR.00224 0988. Made in Italy.
Heating element appears OK. visibly checked all wiring etc. PCB shows no signs of damage. Set to Rinse &Hold, worked perfectly, set on 45° glass wash, tablet released but no rise in temp, it would appear that E3 on this is a no heat fault. Could not see a reset stat, is there one.
The decor panel was secured by two screws at the bottom and the same type of fiddly pull out plastic doofers at the top, side of the door, exactly the same as the ones I last saw on a Diplomat.
Think that PCB may be at fault, any ideas on part No:, price etc.

Definitely a Smeg, the 3 button PCB is part number 696290726 🙂
About £100 normally 🙁

Thanks for that Dave, is no heat a known or common fault on these PCB’s?

Not especially to be honest, possibly the thermistor in the door as well 🙂

KeymasterRe: Caple D/W ?
PCB’s usually don’t give that problem Jim.
Normally the element and stats are the culprits, but I can’t see any info on this one on Smegtech so I dunno what it is. Most have a resetable stat under the heater and some have a stat in the door that can go.
Other than that I’m not a lot of use to you without more info on what version of the DW it is. 😕

Thanks, may have to return for a more ‘in depth’ study, difficult without a wiring diagram, 😥 door stat apeared OK. I could not see a reset stat, only a double pole stat clipped through to the element in the same way that the early Hotpoint ones used to be secured.

Strange, whilst posting a link to Indesit PDF’s I noticed a link to SMEGTECH in the public forums, lost yer manual thread.
Being an inquisitive soul, I clicked the link, entered DI411 and it instantly recognised it and offered me the user manual. ❓
I have a PDF copy of Smeg 007_Dishwasher 60CM 2001GB.doc tech info, is this near enough or is there a PDF for a DI411 out there somewhere. 😀

KeymasterThere will be one out there somewhere in that case. 😕
I’ll have a look again tomorrow and see if I’ve missed it, although you may have to prod me in the morning.
