ParticipantHi,
I’m hoping someone can help me with this problem on a Caple DI414 (I believe its a copy of something else but not sure what). When I start a program, it empties (if required), then fills and stops permanently when it appears to be ful. The programme start button is flashing at this point. By holding the programme start button down for a few seconds I can restart the cycle but the same thing happens (and I get a beep which I guess indicates previous cycle didn’t finish?). I have taken the side panels off the machine (power off!) and the bottom tray (leak prevention tray?) was full of water but I can’t see where the water has come from. I have drained the water away but the problem remains. Other maybe relevant info: the drain that the unit drains into was temporailiy partially blocked so there may have been a partial restriction on drain flow at some point.
Any help/advice gratefully received.

Allow to dry out 24hrs and see what happens. Power off of course.

I should have mentioned that I’ve already left it to dry for three days and it has made no difference which is a bit of a blow!

HI
the model you have was origannaly made by Fagor, you will need to replace the main wash motor which will have got soaked, most likely cause of flood in base is either the hose at the base rear to pump has come off normally due to bloked wash paddles or a failure of the wash pump seals (unlikely).
I can supply both the wash motor and sump hose mod kit from stock when i return from spain after the 3rd january.Bryan

Bit more info on the fault I described above – I have now removed the circulation motor in the expectation of having to replace it as advised. I expcted it to be the Askoll type as described elsewhere on the site, but the casing appears to match the recommended replacement, i.e. motor connectors are not at the bottom of the unit where they can be submerged if the tray floods (as mine did). The pump spins freely and the impeller is not jammed in any way. I have measured the resistance across the motor terminals and got 47 Ohms, and I have checked that the there is open circuit between each of the terminals and the pump casing.
Before I order a replacement pump, is this what would be expected from a faulty pump? Thanks to all for the help received so far.
Cheers,
Mark

More info again – following the test measurements I described in the post above, I decided to test the circulation pump with an external power source as the measurements seemed to indicate it was ok. As suspected, it worked fine with external power, but when refitted in the machine, showed the same syptoms as before (machine fills with water, stops filling then nothing happens). I have checked the pump supply voltage via the connector and it shows no voltage at any point in the sequence, also have buzzed out the cable back to the PCB to check for breaks and there were none found.
Can anyone tell me the sequence of operation after the fill has stopped? Is the heater element powered on before the circulation pump or during circulation only? Or is something stopping the fill?
Thanks,
Mark

Presumably this machine has a secondary water level system to act as flood protection, if the primary fails or gets blocked. If activated most of these will shut off the programme.
Not familiar with this particular machine, hope that helps.
