The above unit is 2 years old and has stopped cooling. The light is on and the overload kees tripping and then resets and trips again. The compressor does not run. It is frost free fridge but common compressor. Any ideas

Unless the starting device is faulty, this will be the compressor itself causing the overload protection to “trip”.

You are probably looking between £125-£175 to have it replaced as a ball park figure.

I would ask an engineer to confirm though as it’s a possibility the starting device could be at fault.

Check repairs@ and the directories 🙂

Is there a way of checking the starter. This seems to ba an inteftal unit with overload

Not without the correct test equipment (multimeter will suffice, just).

Pull the plug 1st though :zap:

Normally, yes they are all one part.

Thanks for your help. Where do you put the meter. Will this show open circuit or welded closed. Any idea the price of a new starter-o/l unit? ❓

Sorry, I can’t be more specific than I have been already and as there are many hundreds of types, without physically having it in front of me I wouldn’t be able to tell anyway to be honest.

    Dave.
