ParticipantHi
I know this has probably been talked about before but just wondering what the best options are, I’m currently looking at izettle as its recommended by my bank
I know Ken mentioned one but didn’t see much come of it
Cheers

The First Data one is still available in the WTA forum Andy.

Have been using Card machine for some years now, but am currently getting a lot of hassle with Worldpay.
Correct me if wrong but with Izettle you cant process a card payment over the phone, you have to be with the card holder at the time.
Bit of a pain if someone wants to pay by phone. IMO
I suppose they can BACS you easily these days, instead.I have a streamline machine which has been great for years, but now with the latest PCI DSS version they want to scan my computer every 3 months to check security.
Am in contact with them at the mo’ trying to explain I don’t use computer for payments, but its like chatting to bl**dy brick wall.
Thing is , if you dont follow there procedures , you pay for it.
My contract ends in feb 16 , so might look for something with less grief! 😡Clive

Worldpay we used for years but, like you, it turned into a bit of a nightmare.
If you take MOTO payments (Mail Order Telephone Order) you need to do the whole PCI DSS thing, same over the web. I didn’t know if you had to go through that for a terminal or not but I didn’t think you did.
MOTO is a different thing to web and terminal, you need to pay for that if you want it as it’s another service.
And yes, if you don’t comply they will hike your rates, some drastically.

the thing is Ken, I don’t see why they need to scan my computer when I don’t take payments on it or store customer info either .
I use a mobile machine which has a SIM card and authorises transactions over the mobile phone network- what’s that got to do my PC?
Anyway there not getting into my computer, I’ll move to another provider in Feb .

The presumption is, you keep all the details.
Essentially you’ve got to prove that you don’t and that you never record them, transfer them over the interweb or whatever and that if you have receipts they don’t have details on them etc. that could be used for identity theft.
That also means they want to know the process so staff can’t get that either.
That’s why. It’s a pain but, gotta be done.
Security crackdown, expect it to continue and to be honest, all the card services have to do it now.

Ok, so are there any security issues with an Izettle then. ie, lengthy forms to fill & security checks?
At present most banks seem to be pushing the Izettle, maybe it’s aimed more at individuals & small business .And the Banks cream there little bit off the top to save the hassle I’m going through at present.
Izettle looks the way to go, I’m gonna look into it I think.

Been looking into izettle quite a bit and all seems pretty straightforward ( not gonna hold my breath though).
£49 for the pro Bluetooth reader and no up front fee as far as I can tell. 2.75 {e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} per transactionNovember 10, 2015 at 11:25 pm #432391stratfordgirl

Smeghead, do you use Worldpay’s SaferPayments online self-assessment questionnaire? If so, it’s worth going through your questionnaire again. My recollection is the questionnaire is a bit of a minefield and you have to choose your answers very carefully. As far as I know you are only charged for the service once per year, not every time you update the questionnaire.
My setup is similar to yours – mobile terminal with SIM card – and they’ve not asked to scan my computer.

Yes mine is same setup, I do remember the last time I filled the questionnaire , there was an option to repeat the answers from the previous year , to save all those lengthy questions- so I ticked that box .
Maybe I will redo the form as you say & carefully check the answers, bit of a pain though & as you know takes some time to complete!!

I use Worldpay Zinc. Its a great little device that connects to your mobile. Ive been with them about a year now with no hitches. I don’t know what the deal is now to buy the handheld reader but I think it cost me about £40. Transactions cost 2.75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} and I can take manual payments over the phone via their website. The money is in my account usually within a couple of days. I would highly recommend them.
If anybody wants any more info just let me know. There may be a recommendation incentive available as well if I remember rightly.November 12, 2015 at 10:48 pm #432394squadman
