ParticipantHi,
We have a CDA 494 dishwasher but it has started tripping the fuse on our fuse box.
it starts, drains the water, fills with new water – but as soon as the fill stops it trips the fuse and all downstairs electrics go off!
This happens on all programmes even the rinse.
Does this sound terminal?? it is definitely less than 5 yrs old but I can’t find any manuals we had with it or proof of purchase and I don’t know if we registered it with the manufacturer.
Thanks
Gav

Hi gemcka,
It’s a Whirlpool made dishwasher and I’m not terribly familiar with them.
However, there’s a few things that could cause this and I suspect from your post that you may be better to get an engineer in. You’re looking at testing a whole load of components for shorts or earth leakage.
At the age it’s worth having a look for sure I’d say.

It will have one of those askell wash pumps fitted on this machine – so would be my guess too!

We know that, Senseib – we even have an article al about it:
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ge&pid=159I am merely concerned that a new poster is offering a definite fix, with no confirmed info to go on…….

Thanks to you all for your help & comments..
After getting the thing out of the cabinet – there has definatley been some leaking!!!
Looks like it came from the pump too.
Are they quite easy to replace?
I am a fairly competent diy’er, and if I get the Pump shown in the article – part 4812 361 58334 – is it a straight forward replacement, i.e same mounting points & electrical connections?Cheers.

Clips can be tricky; there is a new bracket included to support the motor, but it is basically a screwdriver and pliers job.
With the power off, of course……….

If CDA will come out and fix it for £69.95 then that’s gotta be a better deal than buying the parts and doing it yourself.

After the dishwasher fills the motor should kick in, seems logical to question the wash pump but i accecpt it could be other things ie heater or leak (contacts for the motor are low and can get wet if the machine leaks) thats why i suggested calling CDA.
