ParticipantDear All.
Good afternoon. I’ve quite literally stumbled across you guys in a huge Google search in order to find out what it going on with my dishwasher. Very good site and loads of information. 8)
A small problem for which I would like to ask about. I have a CDA CW496 dishwasher – one year old, used about five times and spotlessly clean inside and in the filter area.
I came to use it last night and set the program and closed the door. The drain pump ran for half a minute as usual and it drew water from the cold. I left it to it and carried on with my business.
Half an hour later, it had stopped and was giving an intermittent beep with three flashes [followed by a pause] on the start light. I cleaned everything out, checked the filters and ran some hot water into the filter bay to clear any unseen blockages. Turned it off at the mains and switched it back on, selected the program [bio 50C cycle] and ran it. It seemed to be working fine for half an hour then it stopped again with the same three-flash code. It had popped the detergent lid but the water inside the unit was cold suggesting that the water heater was not working.
Does anybody know the error code reading and has my machine died?
I appreciate any help. 🙂

Whirlpool-built machine – 3 flashes indicates no heat detected in the time allowed. Heater failure, burnt-out wiring or pcb not switching are all possible causes.
Power off if you intend to investigate this yourself.

Thank you for the reply and error code reading Penguin. 8)
I’m not very electrically minded so I’m going to leave it and give CDA a call. Here’s hoping that I’ve just got it in on the one year parts and labour warranty. But I do not think I have… 😥

I think the parts warranty at least is more than one year.

Yep, you are correct – parts warranty is for five years.
It is the labour part that I am thinking about. I think I’m just out of the one year labour warranty by a couple of weeks – sods law and all that. 🙁
