ParticipantHi thought as i am using the washing machine forum I might as well try and get dishwasher sorted as well.
We had a new kitchen foitted just before christmas with an integrated dishwasher put in. All has been fine until this week when everytime i use the dishwasher all the plug sockets fusein the house. I can only turn everything on again if i have unplugged the dishwasher. What could make this happen, I don’t know whether to contact the company who fitted the kitchen or the dishwasher manufacturer.
thanks

Under guarantee at that age Dawn, so get onto CDA for repair. Obviously some sort of shortcircuit somewhere….

Hi
as this is an electrical problem then it would be best to call in an engineer through CDA on 01949 862000 and the engineer will let you know either way.
If it is the d/w then it will be repaired free of charge,if its installation then you will need to get your fitter back.

Hi
just had an engineer out from CDA to look at the dishwasher he says it looks like someone has fallen on the door and bent the hinges so he can’t fix it and will arrange for someone to come and take it to the workshop.
i asked how long, he said maybe next week maybe week after, so much for after sales.
I told him nobody has fallen on the door and that we have had problems shutting the door since we got it, but i put it down to bad design, and asked if the doors the problem would that short all my electrics, he was unsure!!
He thinks when they look at it in the workshop they will put it down to the door being the problem and charge me the bill. Some warranty this is, only had the thing for three months.February 16, 2006 at 6:08 pm #164196BobHope

hi dawn,
its quite common for the door hinge assembly to become damaged by poor instalation, does your door fall down when you open it, if so the fitter has not adjusted the door balancing system correctly, this fault can be repaired in your home.Bob.

Thanks for replying Bob
yes the door does just fall when you open it, would this damage the door enough to fuse the electrics.February 16, 2006 at 7:24 pm #164198BobHope

Hi Dawn
dont think the two faults are related, ask the repair agent to adjust the door balancing, its possible the heating element has failed and that is what is causing the electric fault. you dont use 4 in 1 dishwasher tablets by any chance.Bob.

hi dawn
it may well be that the door support bands may have snapped which will allow the door to drop, but not from new.
as for being charged,if the appliance is less than 3 yrs old then all parts will be supplied free of charge by CDA.
if the door hinges are required then they are available as parts and normally fitted on site as it is a 45 min job.
as for the electrics tripping then it way well be a leak on the motor causing this.
by the way where are you ?
