This is a bit :offtopic: sorry.

My house was built in the early 80s so the wiring is reasonably modern. The oven is on its own circuit protected by an RCD in a new consumer unit.

My question is, if I fit a ceramic hob, is it likely that I will need to provide a separate supply tail from the consumer unit or can I just connect it to the same supply as the oven?

    Many thanks.
    Keith.

That would very much depend on the rating of the supply to your oven. 😉

If it’s on a 13A supply (which a lot are to cut costs) then no, you can’t bang an electric hob of any kind on the same supply.

If it’s a 30A supply then you should be okay.

I always recommend separate spurs but that may prove difficult to do.

Thanks K, it’s a pukka cooker supply (not the 13A ring main) so it looks like I’m in the clear. 🙂
