Can the drum bearing be removed without taking out the complete drum. i.e removing the nut, pulley and drawing out the bearing.

    Thanks

No front bearing has to come out.

Thanks – an engineer says it is better to scrap the machine, too expensive to repair. Machine is only 5 years old and had a new motor. Is this right?

    Thanks

It’s all about time…… To an experienced professional repairer this a two – two and a half hour job and time is money. A bearing and seal set alone is not particularly expensive – £15-£25 typically, so it’s cost effective to you to do it for yourself.

The stumbling block with all bearing jobs is that until the machine is apart you can often not judge the condition of the drum shaft – on a Hoover/Candy appliance, this is usually the inner drum and shaft as an assembly = expensive.
