    Hi all,

    Newbie to the trade here.

Recently went to a training course that said to change a compressor there is two ways, one too dangerous to teach us so they taught us the other way using a lokring system to connect the copper pipes.

My issue is as someone who’s starting out I can’t afford the £700+ for this tool so I was hoping someone would be able to advise another way of connecting the copper pipes, please?

If anyone could give me some direction or ways to do it I’d be really greatful and my father in law is gas safe so I’m sure he could help me practice before going ahead alone.

    Thanks in advance

as far as i know you either use lock ring or braze the tubes

I never liked Lockring stuff so didn’t use it, I’d braze as I found that to be much more reliable. And, brazing was monumentally cheaper.

    Hi guys,

    Thanks for your prompt response!

Brazing seems to be the way forward.

    Thanks again

if you are brazing you need to declare it to our public liabilty insurers as you need higher cover, also look on ebay for lokrings , you can create reasonably sensible set of kit for not a huge amount of money
