ParticipantHi
I’m going to attempt changing the door seal I’ve seen a few bits of advice such as your page and a youtube video from apart4u but just a couple of model specific questions:Does the front panel come off on this model? (and even if it does, would I NEED to remove it to change door seal)
Should I use washing up liquid OR should I use Debor on the inner seal onto the outer tub? The guide on here suggests use only one or the other.
Model is about 10yrs old Merloni built.
cheers
Tim

Front panel does not come off so you have to do it through porthole. I dont use debor but sometimes a very light application of washing up liquid in the inner groove helps. Give yourself plenty of time and do it slowly its more fiddly than difficult. Good luck

No, the front does not come off. This is one of the easier Servis ones. With power off, the lid off and the retaining wire removed from the front edge of the seal you can peel the seal away from the cabinet front then get an assistant to hold the drum as far back as it will go to give you more room to work at the front. The seal is secured by a screwed clamp band which is removed and the old seal peeled away. We all have different techniques for manipulating the new seal into place on the drum front so it will probably mean a bit of trial and error. I tend to start by securing a section of seal on the left hand side and work my way round then have a look all round the inside edge of the seal to make sure it’s on properly before fitting the clamp band. You then secure the outer edge to the cabinet in the same way and refit the sprung loaded clamp wire.

Done it!
twas a t*at of a job!
I don’t know if Phidom realised it was a washer dryer.Anyway I did the hot air inlet first – bit of a faf lining up the metal blower duct, the door seal protrusion and the black funnel that goes in between them. I saw that the funnel had been glued before so i slapped a bit of Debor on both inside and outside of it where it meets the metal and the door seal.
Good advice about holding back the drum but I actually needed an extra pair of hands at the front, trying to get it on blinking tub edge esp behind the air inlet while keeping the (loosened of course) clamp band from jumping out of position. Solution was to chock the drum back with some wood blocks so all hands available at front!!
Drain pipe tricky to get in the hole in the tub but went in with a satisfactory pop when it did.
Front body lip seal was comparatively a doddle although I cut my finger rubbing round the metal edge to clean up first
Anyway job successful. Full wash done with test paper underneath bone dry!
thanks again for advice 🙂

Ah, looks like the Connect Mediator diagrams I looked at for the M9309 are for the wrong model, that’s why I thought it was an easy one without a top air vent and bottom drain hose bit. Sorry about that.
