ParticipantHope someone can help. Had Zanussi ZDE57140W Vented Dryer delivered today but would like to change (reverse) the door swing. Everything was straightforward and easy and until you get to the door catch lock which is located inside the machine. Does anyone know what is the easiest way to access this so I can move it to the other side? Does it involve taking off the main cover or what?
Thanks for your help…

Hi
As far as I am aware no tumble drier door can be reversed as with washing machine dorrs they are made for one way swing only.
I may be wrong and if any other engineer knows different then I acknowlege I have learnt something new.

I know that reversing doors isn’t always as easy at it would seem.
If the instruction manual dosen’t give you enough detail then a call to Zanussi would be the best bet. You don’t want to damage something and invalidate your guarantee.

Thanks for responses. The door and main dryer unit is definitely made for changing the door swing as all the holes, areas for hinges to go, etc. are identical on one side compared to the other, although it doesn’t reference how to in the instructions. I’ll keep looking, but if anyone else can help that would be great.

Hi
Door is fully reversible.
You need to make sure plug is removed from socket then remove top , undo door lock, and move lock to other side of cabinet. Making sure that the wiring is secure and safe. If in any dought call Zanussi or your local independent engineer.

Hi
You do not remove front panel , if you have the same model as above just follow instructions. If you have a different model it may be that the door is not revesible .
Make / model and serial number please for further advice.

my model is zdc67550w,
it says it is reversible, + it looks like, just when I started to do the job I notices if I would unscrew completely door catch it would stay/fall in under front panel. SO I had to stop, and seek for a adviseMarch 30, 2008 at 9:16 pm #246411werdas

Door reversal on zanussi ZDC67550W dryer
Hi, we have same problem. My husband removed the top as previously suggested to see if it is the same design as the ZDE57140W Dryer but we were then confronted with other things that had to be reoved before we could possibly get to the point of even looking down to locate the plastic closure plate, (that is causing the problem). After much deliberation and bolt removal, we still couldn’t get into the area.
We came to the conclusion that this is not a DIY job, so we are really ticked off, as it will be very awkward to use the dryer with the door opening this way round and zanussi/electrolux service centre has told us there is a call out charge of £50 + a charge for the reversal! so that means a left hand opening door, costs at least £70 more than a right hand opener! I am most annoyed as our old zanussi was a quite straightforward reversal. -
