The drum bearings are shot on my PE235. Inspired by yurtesen (! 🙂 ) I’ve got the drum assemby out, split it and sourced new bearings.
I need to separate the drum from the casing, however, the drum shaft seems very tight in the bearings and the first few taps to drive it out haven’t budged it.
Please could anyone offer some advice before I proceed to knacker the end of the shaft and/or drum casing.
Fit a sacrificial nut onto the end of the shaft to protect the thread. Wallop with extreme prejudice. You are advised to use a copper faced hammer to minimise damage.
