I have a Hotpoint WMUD843P washer that is a few years old now, it has 8KG Drum, 1400 spin speed. At the time I wanted to get the Dearer WMUD962P 9KG Drum 1600rpm speed but I think it was nearly 200 dearer –

My question: If I were to get a secondhand Electronic Control Board for a WMUD962P off ebay (fits bottom left of machine) and swap it over with my WMUD843P board would it change my WMUD843P (1400rpm/8KG) into a WMUD962P (1600rpm/9KG) machine? – I am presuming the board has exactly the same connections and terminals and that all the boards are identical for this range and just the software on the eeprom chip is loaded with the correct software for the machine?

Through a bit of detective work I have found out both the WMUD843P & the WMUD962P share exactly the same 9KG (Indesit) Drum & Tub, The same Induction Motor (goes up to 1800RPM maximum I think it said on the Motor self adhesive label) – I think it has the same water Level switch and the same sump hose and pump.

Only think I cannnot tell is if the front facia LED electronics are programmed to match the control board eeprom chip or whether you can use a WMUD843P Facia control panel with a WMUD962P lower control board. – I suppose I could give it a go but has anyone (preferably a WM engineer) know what I am on about and think my Idea would work?

We have a saying in the trade If it ain’t broke don’t mend it!

A machine that’s given you years of use, and is probably in the autumn/winter of its life, you want just 200rpm more out of its spinner? For that you’ll risk buying a c r a p board from some eBay junk yard dealer and screw the last vestiges of life out of what was a working machine?

Leave that machine well alone is my advice and don’t ever think of buying any Samsung either, worse than Hotpoint!
