Changing Smeg oven element…

Hi all, first post here and kinda desperate 😕

I have the spare part I need to change the main oven element on my range, but…..how on earth do you get the screws/sockets off that are used to hold in the old element at the back of the over??! They are about 5.5mm size sockets but nothing I have is even touching them 😥 My tools seem too rounded, need something dead flat…but what ?? 😳

Do I need a special tool….if so where can I get one ?

If you are talking about the fan oven element, you need a 7mm deep socket from the back of the oven.

With the power off, of course.

Is the “back of the oven” the only way to change the fan element then? I really wanted to go in through the front, via the oven door ?

Nope, get two mates and drag it out. It’s the only way.
