    Hi
I don’t know why I thought of this but neverthless it may have an impact.
With the influx of people to the UK from EU membership countries ie Roumania, who are only to happy to work for buttons and are skilled in the whitegoods and a dare say most area of most trades; are they not likely to be snapped up by the likes of CDSL who will capitalise on the situation and thus rock the status quo 😕
    Twas just a thought 😀

    Re: Cheap Labour

Not really – there are no native Britons – we’ve been arriving for the last 10,000 years. My family is Belgian not all that long ago. I suppose it’s one of the penalties of living in the freest country on earth. We accept, we adapt, we integrate – somehow, it works.

I suspect that the available number of specialists available to our industry is tiny. A competent engineer may wish to come to Britain, but we know how much we rely on communication to get to the nub of the customers problems. If you haven’t got the language skills, it ain’t going to work, especially now that we are teaching the customers the right way to use an appliance.

Just yesterday morning (Wed) I was trying to explain to a Russian family (baggage crew at LBA) that the bearings were shot in their Zanussi and that it was a big, expensive job. Finished up drawing pictures and getting bits out of the van to explain. We got there, but, the other way round…… It’s not going to work, is it?

    Chris.
