I bought a candy washing machine model GV148D3W and whenever I use it a chemically smell is given off. This is a new machine, so I called an engineer.

When he appeared at first he told me to clean it, but I told him this was a new machine and the smell was not coming from inside. I ran the machine and he agreed that there was a smell, but later wrote in his report that the machine was running normally.

This smell still appears whenever the machine is on, particularly when it spins. I feel these fumes are toxic.

I spoke to the retailer, Argos, who are saying I can get an independent report done.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Rubber door seal rubbing against the stainless drum is a possibility? Though when that occurs it’s usually a burning rubber smell.

Hi did you ever get to the bottom of this? I have had the same model around a month and it has a constant sewer smell coming from the drawer and space it is in under the bench. The drum smells OK although on occasions the washing smells horrid like the old gym kit forgotten in a bag for a month or two. There is no way it should be smelling of sewer as the pipes for it are not connected to any sewer. I’ve noticed it’s worse if I do a wash any hotter than 30degrees or a spin above 1000. It’s getting to the stage where I might return it.

Have you tried a maintenance was and/or using Affresh in it to clean it out?

    Hi

More likely that it hasn’t been plumbed in correctly and leaving a drop and rise on the waste hose. thats what is the normal cause.
