    Yep, that’s normal.

All that you need to do is coil the phial as you describe and it should be fine. usually I try to coil it close to the stat housing or inside the cabinet if possible for more accuracy.

    Thanks kwatt,
Will do as you suggest. Had to go out this evening so fitted it rapidly before I left. It’s all hanging outside the cabinet. the fast freeze seems to be working but not too sure till tomorrow whether it is working as it should. Will let you know as the red light is on. even if I turn the stat to min. The temp has risen inside to -20 from -30C.

    I still have a problem – Help
The new Ranco VS5 thermostat is now regulating the temperature inside the freezer. Also the fast freeze button also works by bypassing the thermostat setting. That’s the good news. However the red warning light for “temperature higher than set” light is on continuously.

The VS5 has 3 male spade connectors numbered 3, 4 & 6(this one also has a number 2 which is not shown in the Ranco circuit drawing?) ignoring the earth connectors of which there are 2.

I have traced the wiring from mains plug to the system and have the following:
The mains cable is 3 core where the brown cable goes to the compressor connection. This connection has two electrically linked spades. One cable, brown, goes to the user light inside the freezer cabinet, the other, brown, is part of a 4 core cable that goes to the spade connector on the thermostat which I have on connection 4. From that spade on 4 a brown cable is linked to one side of the ‘fast freeze button/light. From this fast freeze button/light it links on by a brown cable to the ‘Power on’ light.
The other spade, marked 2/6 on the thermostat has 2 black cables, one of which goes to the ‘Fast freeze button/light. The other black cable from the 4-core cable goes back to the compressor.
Now the other thermostat spade connector 3 has a single black cable, which goes to the red temperature warning light, which remains ‘on’ no matter where the thermostat control is set?
Any ideas how I can reconfigure the wiring to get the red light to only come on when the setting, set is not being maintained.

How do I direct my question to R600a (Bryan)?

Just for the record I reconnected the leads that go to the thermostat as follows: To make sense of this you will need to read the following in conjunction with my last post about the connections that was posted at 11.44 today.

The two brown Cables that were on spade connection 4 are now on spade connector 3 and the two black cables which were on spade connection 3 are now on thermostat spade connector 4 leaving the single black cable on spade connector 6 on the thermostat’ However, the result is that the red higher than set temperature warning light remains continually ‘ON’. With the thermostat set at nearly max and the compressor is continually running the max temperature measured inside the cabinet is now only
-15C previously it was off scale beyond -30C. I will see what has happend in the morning. Can’t think what is wrong so it looks like a new freezer!!
