ModeratorISE5 just over 2 years old, has had a new motor last year.
Customer complaining of loud noise on fast spin.
Thorough visual examination reveals no obvious faults. Weights, bearings, suspension units, inner drum, motor mountings all OK.
Removed heater to check for any objects in drum, all clear.
Loaded with 4 decent size dry towels and set to spin. As it reaches the top speed there is an awful, fast vibrating, knocking noise. It seems to be in the drum but I cannot pin it down.
Perfectly quiet with no load.
Any ideas before I return to strip the drum down?

I would check and see if the wire clip that holds the heater secure is in place, but you probably would have noticed when you had the heater out.

I heard somewhere that the door gasket solid lip catches the front drum with a heavy load, could be that?
Belt if that is worn can give off weird noises.
Have they used liquid, shaft damage causing the drum shaft to crack and go off balance again catching the door gasket?

Heater clip is sound, its not a door seal catching sort of noise, its definately a fast vibration noise. Wasn’t a heavy load, just four average sized bone dry towels. This customer also takes note of what she is told by her engineer 😉 She uses Ariel tablets and does a regular hot wash. 8)
Also tried holding the suspension units ( well at least the left hand one ) but that didn’t stop the noise.

Have changed suspension because of knocking noise on this style, so could be legs.
If not looks like you need to get tub out and check.
Done bearings on one just before xmas good fun.

My next step would be to try a couple of suspension legs, clutching a straws with that though. 😥

Mr Seed! He called us out to his ISE5 2 or 3 times complaining about a noise knocking that just happened once in a while. I could never pinpoint where this noise came from 🙁 And the noise wasn’t there all the time, it was pretty rare, but very loud when it happened.
Eventually, when the m/c was about 2 n half years old the motor snapped off the tub! Anyhoo, he’s very happy now after a complete rebuild 😀

I did tape up the motor supports and customer says it was much better.
I may be getting a call for a damaged tub some time in the future. 😥
