    Hello!

I have been very kindly (I think) donated a Hotpoint RFA60. After leaving it to stand and giving it a good clean, I plugged it in and went to open the door – when the light switch moved, there was a blue flash from that side of the circuit board.. the house fuses blew and the bulb blew.

Replaced bulb and switched it on again, interior light does not work nor the green and red display lights on the outside at the front. The refrigerator is not cooling, although the freezer is happily enough.

I’ve also noticed a diagonal crack in the plastic of the back wall inside the fridge. I do not know if this has always been there and the fridge was working fine (apparently it was!) or if it is damage from transit? Would a crack in the plastic allow all the gas out, or is this just punctures – and would it affect the entire cooling system? I assume it is all one system and not split seperately into two.

Does anyone know what has happened and why? And more importantly – can I fix this?

    Kind regards! x
