I have a Candy CV100 vented tumble dryer, bought around 2000 (you can see it here, not my upload, but just so you can see it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixMaMJPJbtc at 1:37 the Power On button is on the left, the little LED lights up red when in operation).
The power button is soft touch and lights up when pressed (it’s the sort of power button where there’s no “click” or feeling of it connecting to anything).
Now it seems to have developed a fault. It turns “red” when I press it, but when I let go of any pressure on the button, with door closed, as it should be, it switches off again. I’m wondering maybe if the machine seems to think the door is open, though I’m no expert on how this machine works.
I’ve tried sticking it down with parcel tape as a short-term stop-gap (I know it’s not wise, but I make sure I’m around) but I either need a new machine or this one repaired.
Do you think this is repairable/worth repairing? Thanks.
I’d also like to point out my CIV100 is in much better nick than the one in the youtube clip, really only used for towels and my kingsize sheets!
Thank you. I’m thinking of going for an AEG T75280AC Condenser Tumble Dryer as its replacement.
