Apologies in advance for the brevity, I’m posting from my mobile.

My wife in her infinite wisdom put some car mats into the wash (cold and low spin but still…) and they completly broke down. The machine was full of black mud-like sludge and would not drain.

I dragged the machine out of the garage and managed to empty it, pulled the hose off the sump/pump assembly and removed a solid bung of sludge and the machine started draining ok.

The problem is, despite several service washes, there is still black sediment showing in the door and around the seal. Small amounts are showing on the laundry. After a service wash, there is no trace of the sediment so it must be the weight of the load causing it to move around.

What else can I do to deep clean the machine or is it a writeoff?

For info it’s a Panasonic machine, about two years old.

What is moving around, the machine or yet more sediment?

If it’s the machine, it just needs levelling. Sediment? Only a total strip-down and clean or loads of rinse cycles will cure the problem. But hey! It’s a Panasonic so your worst fears could be a reality if non of the above cure. 🙁

    Hi

You will just need to carry on doing loads until it clears. There is no real alternative.

Sorry I wasn’t clear; it’s the sediment I was referring to. I’m doing a series of rinse cycles now and the amount is decreasing but with a full load it’ll probably dislodge some more.

Aside from issues caused by, shall we say l “user error” the machine has been rock solid. Is Panasonic a dirty word round here?

Yep. As above, I’m just doing constant rinse cycles at the moment and then cleaning inside the door seal. I’ll add some weight to the drum shortly to see if that leaves me any more little presents around the seal.

Whilst I had the machine out of the garage yesterday I left the pump filter open and ran water from a hose through the drum and it eventually ran clear so I just don’t know where all this is coming from.

To say I’m annoyed is an understatement, but if it doesn’t improve I’ll just have to write it off and get a new machine.
