Cleaning out Washing Machine Waste Hose – Bosch

I seem to remember a service engineer saying something about using dishwasher powder to clean out a washing machine on the hottest setting. Apparently this clears out the waste hose which gets clogged up due to low temperature washes.
I havnt cleaned out our Bosch since we have had it but it mixes in a load of cold water before it drains on the hottest wash so cant see how this would clear out the hose anyway.
Any ideas without physically removing the hose.
It ocassionally sticks on a rinse program and the book says it could be a blocked hose.
