ParticipantJust thought i add this…
I acquired a washing machine (hotpoint wt741 2G) and this came from the oap, the lady said that the machine was not doing what it was supposed to do, buttons not working as should, had to be spun twice to drain water from clothes and the machine man came to fix it, (basically conned her into buying a new machine from him!!!) upon reviewing when i got it home…
Drain pump filter wouldnt come off,
Buttons dirty making it stiff to press
Seal at hole was moulded
Plug cut off wire
Filthy as in repair man’s hand printed all over it
Missing back lower panel coverNow i tackled the buttons first, using kitchen papertowel and drop of water with soft edge knife and wiped off the dirt between buttons. All good now…
Cleaned dispenser and hole
Inspected all electronic connections and plugged properly…
Fitted new plug and tested, all lights come on spot on.
Drain pump filter cap wont come off,,, thanks to a member with his advice, removed pump from location, found 67p worth of coins, plastic pipe, half a sock, thick slime and soap goo. No wonder it failed to work properly cos it was blocked and full of crap!!! (repair guy should of checked before conning her!!)
Cleaned out using drop of water and papertowel… Screw driver scraped hardened soap goo. All clean as new…Ordered filter cap. Fitted pump back on location and wait for filter to fit onto.
Now the mould… I searched for the best method…
Bicarbonised of soda, white vinegar, dettol mould and mildew spray, stardrop power cleaner…
Dettol spray works best!!! Patient and time and effort paying off now! Looking good just little more to do.
Next bit… Washine machine cleaner will be applied after i put it through a hot wash cycle to clean out remaining junk in system befor doing the cleaning stuff.
Results! 🙂

It would be a really good idea to keep all of your posts on this machine in one thread TBH.
As for the seal, try THIS

Cant do same thread as its entirely different type as first one was asking for advice, this one is stating what i’ve done and used what etc.
Dettox mould and mildew cleaner spray did wonders!!! As shown above, took me 4 cleaning times as mould was reallly thick!!

Perhaps it’s the cynic in me, but no way has Dettol Mould & Mildew spray got that black/brown mould off the door rubber. Stop pulling my leg, it’s a new door seal innit?

No. Honest… Still need to do the rim just behind the front. And the inside to do… I’ll show you…
Still a bit more to go, this is 4 times. Spray, soak for 5 minutes then spray on sponge and scrub. It takes a while but gets there without damaging the rubber
